‘I miss the River we met in Ten’s era, she was a great mystery then. Turning her into the Doctor’s ‘wife’, Amy & Rory’s daughter, AND a Time Lady is a bit over kill. She’s basically the Bella Swan of Doctor Who. There’s no true plot for her’

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA. River Song is not Bella Swan.
Bella does not defend herself. River defends herself and protects others. Bella was submissive and very ordinary. River is the most complex character on the show and is FAR from submissive. Bella’s not a BAMF. River’s a BAMF, HBIC, and all the initials.
I could go on, but I don’t really think I have to because River is the farthest thing from Bella Swan I can think of.
And she DOES have a plot. It’s a bit timey-wimey, sure, but there IS. A. PLOT.

BAMFIEST OF ALL THE BAMFS.

I want to scream. “You should be watching this show. YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING THIS SHOW.” You should be watching this show, Scott and Bailey. Unfortunately, a lot of you cannot, unless you are an Internet pirate such as myself. It is a solid procedural with a lot of heart, and three solid performances by three solid actresses. But by the good graces of BBC America and PBS go us all, so much of what UK television has to offer goes by the wayside for American audiences. That’s sad. It’s really sad. First of all, it would make the dialogue on female characters in positions of power fall down and die. Am I really obsessed about Girls before it has even aired? Really? Truth be told, as much as I would like my television to vaguely mimic my own life choices back to me in a way that is comical and therefore somehow validating all of said choices, maybe, because TV = real life, I would much prefer to watch Rachel Bailey and Janet Scott tumble intellectually in the crime procedural arena with the likes of Kay Howard and Olivia Benson. I would so much rather watch women who are not me still struggling with the same stuff that I am. Also, it is tons of fun when they arrest the guy by pinning them to the ground and calling them an asshole. Everyone drinks a lot. Rachel Bailey is my spirit animal.
iPlayers for everyone! International media content! By God, if/when Scott and Bailey ever becomes an American sensation (it won’t) (IT SHOULD) (THERE IS A REAL AUDIENCE FOR THIS SHOW) (it won’t), I want to be on CNN. Please cite this Tumblr post.
